Short Walks In An Ideal Mediterranean Forest

Short Walks In An Ideal Mediterranean Forest (2022) is a painting and audio installation that portrays a reflective journey exploring personal and ecological loss.

Through collaborative therapeutic acts of walking, conversation, and painting, my partner, Juana Flores Vegas, and I share events that followed a time spent at the Joya Arte + Ecologia artist residency in Andalucia, Spain.

We reflect on the effects of drought and desertification, species extinction, land abandonment and modern agriculture, whilst coming to terms with Juana’s cancer diagnosis – connecting climate grief and personal bereavement through our shared sense of anticipated loss.
